Do You Have a Story?

Choosing the right author takes the mystery and complexity out of creating your book for others to experience. You and your author become a team: The challenge of interviewing, scheduling, and writing belongs to your author. Your part is to simply tell your story.

Shaping your article, short story, or a muli-chapter book into a dynamic page-turner is what I love. I have spent hundreds of hours interviewing storytellers all over the U.S. for books and stories. I presently write for publishing companies and individuals. Email: for answers to your questions about writing fees, publishing costs, payment plans, etc. I collaborate with wonderful publishers and editors who will help us produce a quality product you can be proud of.

My specialties include: well-researched historical life stories, Christian evangelical-themed books and stories, war and military narratives, and other lifestyles or subjects too numerous to list.

No project is too big or too small. Call me at 907-230-6051 to discuss your ideas.

To Introduce Myself:

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and after high school, hammered out a living in construction trades to support a wife and sons. I pastored a church in Northern California, took courses at Shasta College and worked on the editing staff of a local newsmagazine before moving to Anchorage, Alaska. At The Anchorage Times newspaper, I worked as a floor editor and wrote a bi-weekly column until leaving The Times to create an Alaska historical theme park.

For over a decade my family served an international clientele, introducing visitors to Alaska history and folklore via photo essays, frontier museum, sled dog excursions, and educational tours for schools and organizations. I have been living the Alaska dream for over 24 years. Married for 38 years, I serve on the board at King's Way Ministry Center and Eagle River Christian School, near Anchorage.

I have written dozens of biographies for books produced by Good Catch Publishing, Good Book Publishing, and Books Behind Bars. I interview and write for storytellers across the U.S. My published books include the titles: Solo Rising, My Journey from Terror to Triumph (the life story of Chief Master Sergeant Katherine Cooper, USAF), and Furrow In the Clouds, the Story of Young Thomas Easterling, Farm Boy, Fighter Pilot, Prisoner of War.

Through personal interviews and in-depth historical research, I shape engaging stories from each storyteller's unique struggles and triumphs. I write with the insights of an editor, author, businessman, outdoorsman, husband, father, and grandfather. My work is also featured in periodicals produced by Alaska Correctional Ministries.

Today, I write secular and religious stories and books. As for my convictions, in all my ambitions I point the heartbroken or wounded in spirit to Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, and today and forever.

To Whom It May Concern,

I am honored to submit this letter of recommendation for Mr. Richard Drebert. For years I had wanted to tell my story in book format and when I met Rick, my dream finally came to fruition. Without any understanding of the process, Rick took me step by step and provided a clear path for me from the initial interview stages until the book was published.

During the interviews, Rick was very sensitive to my emotions that surfaced from even 25 years earlier. He demonstrated meticulous attention to detail and asked probing questions that really aided in painting an accurate word picture. When he came to me for edits, I was amazed at how true to life my story jumped off the page right in front of me! He had really grasped my deepest thoughts and emotions, describing every detail! Rick was always very patient and understanding while we trudged through the tedious editing process. But he was also diligent to keep us on track, not letting the tedium delay the project. He took great pains to ensure I was satisfied with every word before we went to print.

The process of publishing a book can be very daunting for someone like me who has never delved into this arena. Rick walked me through each step, detailing options, costs, and timelines and ensured I understood exactly what would transpire. This was extremely helpful for me to determine what and how much to print. He also helped me set up my own web site so readers could order from there also.

My book is now complete and I could not be more satisfied! My readers tell me they can’t put the book down and often read it in one sitting. Many have stated how easy it is to read and often buy extra copies to give to their friends. As a result of my book being published, I have had an opportunity to tell my story in various settings and have received numerous reports of how it has helped other people through their own difficult times. This book has not been just a project but a ministry to help many who are struggling in life. Without Rick, this would not have happened. His work continues to touch the lives of many in ways we will never know. Again, I am extremely honored and privileged to recommend him to anyone desiring a professional writer.

To whom it may concern:

I have had the great pleasure of working with writer Richard Drebert since I joined the staff at Good Catch Publishing in 2006. There has not been a day I have worked at GCP that I have not thanked God for bringing Mr. Drebert to our team.

Richard is one of the most talented writers I know. He has an amazing ability to interview clients for two hours and write like he has known them for two decades. He diligently and thoroughly researches each and every story to add the authentic details that make his pieces so vibrant and alive. His clients repeatedly sing his praises, both to his project managers and to our president. And he is personally one of my favorite writers to read. I consistently get lost in his beautifully written stories and have to deliberately remind myself that I am supposed to be editing, not pleasure reading. With his stories, I get to do both.

Beyond his incredible talent, Rick is just an extremely enjoyable person to work with. He is prompt, he is reliable and he always responds with enthusiasm to all requests. I have so enjoyed our conversations and musings about life in Alaska throughout the years. He is a true joy. I wish every editor had the pleasure of keeping a Rick on her staff; he is an invaluable member of ours.

Please feel free to contact me about any of my experiences with Mr. Drebert. Every one has been a positive one.
